Whenever the Northmen threatened a raid of the lower valley, sacred relics of St. Martin were moved to safety.
On one occaision when the relics were being moved there were two beggars one lame and the other blind.
The blind man carried the lame man and the lame man showed the blind man the way.
The pair were very successful at their begging.
Now they heard the body of St. Martin was to be carried from a certain church in their procession through their town,
and knowing that many sick men had been healed by the saintly relics,
they fled toward a differnt part of the town, for they had no wish to be cured and thus deprived of their easy and profitable profession."
As they fled the encountered... the holy body suddenly, unpurveyed... and were both healed against their will. And were right sorry therefor.
The artist who created this artwork for St. Martin's signed it BAMorano.
