St. Martin did much to extirpate paganism from Gaul.
Once, after he ordered a pagan temple destroyed he saw the flames "brought the wind to a house that was adjoining,
he mounted the house and set himself against the fire, and anon the flame returned against the might of the wind."
Voragine records, "and all things... obeyed this holy man."
The artist who created this artwork for St. Martin's signed it BAMorano.
