Confessional

Confessional Door at St. Marting of Tours Church

The confessional is a small room located in the rear southeast corner in the back of the church building.

The confessional door was once the old Baprtistry. In the center of the stain glass on the door is a scallope shell with water flowing, an ancient symbol of Baptism. Since it was a stained glass door window, the priest at the time, Fr. Cappelloni, did not change it as it is a nice sacramental link with Baptism.

Three Fingers of Forgiveness

Three Fingers of Forgiveness

The hand and rays is the hand of Christ who forgives sins. This carved wooden sculpture was donated by the late Msgr. Gerald Burns.

Upon his arrival in 1987, Fr. Cappelloni and his parishioners had a bankrupt parish with every building literally falling into itself. Father was able to secure donations from many senior priest friends to help develop the parish and environs.

Crucifix in the Confessional

Crucifix in the Confessional

The Crucifix serves as a reminder of the cost of our sins and offers hope to the penitent in Jesus who has already paid our ransom.

This carved crucifix in the confessional is from the central panel of the old high altar.
